Want to be a NASA Human Research Subject?
NASA’s Johnson Space Center (JSC) test subject screening is recruiting volunteers for a long duration mission to simulate flight operations and confinement. Selected subjects spend the mission in a confined 650-square-foot habitat in the Human Exploration Research Analog (HERA) facility in Houston, Texas. The next mission is set for January 2026 at JSC. Researchers study how humans adapt to socially-isolated and physically-confined conditions, helping NASA prepare for future deep space exploration missions. Volunteers must pass a JSC physical and psychological assessment to qualify and comply with HERA requirements.
