TMCC’s Spring 2025 Undergraduate Research Symposium
TMCC’s Spring 2025 Undergraduate Research Symposium was held last week, on May 14, 2025, in the RDMT student center, 2nd floor at the main Dandini campus. Undergraduate research (UGR) poster presentations highlighted ongoing projects supported by NVSGC’s NASA Community of Practice & INBRE, with guidance from Dr. Laura Briggs, Professor Sharif Rumjahn, and other dedicated mentors.
These projects—some of which you’ll see in the images below—reflect years of work carried forward by students who may never have even met. Thanks to consistent support and a strong culture of collaboration, students inherit and build upon the research of those before them, semester after semester, year after year.
One student shared how their findings repeatedly contradicted previously published research—reminding us how science evolves through careful questioning and replication. As that student prepares to graduate, another has just joined the lab and is now continuing work on E. coli and other small, white bacterial strains. They’re already seeking new students to join and carry the work forward.
This seamless transition between generations of students is what makes TMCC’s research community so unique—ensuring that discovery doesn’t pause between semesters, but grows stronger with each new contributor.
