Dr. Pradeep Menezes (UNR) has been awarded a NASA EPSCoR Research Cooperative Agreement Notice (CAN) award totaling $1,125,000 over a three year award period. The title of his research effort is “Self-adaptive Lubrication for Extreme Space Mechanism Applications”. The proposed research will support NASA missions by developing a self-adaptive solid lubricant coating that can provide adequate lubrication to improve mechanical bearing performance in extreme cryogenic and dusty environments. Dr. Menezes’ team includes NASA collaborator Dr. Christopher Dellacorte (Glenn Research Center); a stakeholder indusEtry who will evaluate the commercialization potential of the research product, Science Co-PIs: Eunja Kim (UNLV); Pankaj Kumar (UNR); Manoranjan Misra (UNR); Jaeyun Moon (UNLV) and Education Co-PIs: Meghan Collins (DRI) and Alexandra Lutz (DRI).
